Licence & who can drive

Do I need a boat licence to drive Capri?

No. Capri is under 7.5 m and runs under 10 knots, so NSW doesn’t require one. Be 18, bring photo ID, and unless you’re already licensed, do a 30-minute induction at the wharf.

What ID do I need?

A current driver licence or passport for everyone who will drive. We check it at the wharf, so bring the real thing.

I’m visiting from overseas. Can I drive?

Yes. Your passport is enough — no Australian licence needed.

What happens in the induction?

Thirty minutes on the boat before your hire starts: steering, low-speed handling, speed zones, the hire area, mooring, man overboard. Licensed drivers get a shorter briefing.

Can more than one of us drive?

Yes. Nominate them when you book or at the wharf — each one shows ID and does the induction.

Can I get my boat licence with you?

Yes — the NSW boat licence practical on Capri, $149, about two hours on the water. You sit the knowledge test with Service NSW yourself. The process is TBC.

Can the driver drink?

Whoever is driving stays under 0.05, same as the road. Everyone else can drink.

Booking & payment

How much is it?

$360 for the whole boat for three hours, up to 8 people. Extra hours $100. Boat-licence practical $149. Catering priced separately (TBC).

What’s included in the $360?

The boat for three hours, the induction or briefing, lifejackets in every size, the 35 L esky iced, Bluetooth sound, blankets, a harbour map and a phone charger. Fuel: TBC.

How do I pay?

Online when you book, by card through Stripe. Confirmed instantly by text and email.

Can we extend on the water?

Yes, if the boat is free afterwards. Text us from the water — $100 an hour, up to eight hours in total.

What’s the Creator Hour?

A free fourth hour, worth $100, when you post about your day. Apply on the Creator Hour page before you book.

Can we book a skippered cruise instead?

Yes, with fewer of you on board. The number and the price are TBC — ask and we’ll quote you.

Do you run at night or for sunset?

Daylight only. A late-afternoon slot gets you the golden hour.

Is there a bond?

A $200 bond, and a $1,000 insurance excess if there’s an accident. Late returns are twice the hourly rate; a rescue call-out starts at $100.

On the day

Where do we leave from?

Le Montage wharf, Maliyawul St, Lilyfield NSW 2040. We text you the pin when you book.

Is there parking?

Yes, all-day street parking on Maliyawul St. Rideshare drop-off at Le Montage. Light rail is a walk along the Bay Run — time TBC.

What time should we arrive?

Ten minutes before your booking, for ID checks and lifejackets. Waiting time is $1 a minute.

What should we bring?

Sunscreen, hats, towels, water and light food. Your phone with a playlist. Shoes come off at the wharf.

What if we’re late back?

Twice the hourly rate. Text us if you’re running long — an extra hour is $100 if the boat is free.

Is there a toilet on board?

No. There’s a toilet by the pontoon before you leave, and the ones on the harbour are marked on your map (list TBC).

Weather & changes

What happens if it’s windy?

We check the Rozelle Bay forecast at 7am on your day. Over 25 km/h, a BOM warning, or under 15 °C and we call it off — reschedule free or take a full refund.

What if it rains?

We’ll usually move your start earlier or later to dodge a shower. In a wash-out the weather policy applies and you don’t lose a cent.

Can I cancel or change my date?

Seven days or more: a full refund less payment fees. Three to seven days: a 50% refund or a free reschedule. Under 72 hours: a reschedule credit. Weather call-offs are always free.

Do you ever cut a hire short?

Only for safety or a mechanical problem. You get a credit for the time you missed (pro-rata terms TBC).

The boat

How many people can come?

Up to 8 on a self-drive hire, kids included.

Is there shade?

Yes — the striped Sunbrella canopy covers the whole deck.

What’s the sound system?

A Fusion Signature 400 W twin-tower system. Pair your phone by Bluetooth.

What’s not allowed on board?

No BBQ, no fishing, no shoes on deck, no smoking, no towing.

How fast does Capri go?

Under 22 km/h flat out. Most of the harbour you’ll want is 4-knot or no-wash anyway.

Food, drink & alcohol

Can we bring food and drink?

Yes. Keep it light and finger-friendly. Our 35 L esky is iced and on board, with room for one more.

Can we drink alcohol?

Yes, for everyone except the driver, who stays under 0.05. Drug and alcohol laws apply on the water the same as on the road.

Do you do catering?

Sushi, ice and prosecco, pre-booked 48 hours ahead and delivered to the boat at the wharf. Menu and prices are TBC.

Can we bring a cake?

Yes. Skip the candles under the canopy. Sparklers, glitter and confetti aren’t allowed on the harbour.

Kids & safety

Can kids come?

Yes. Kids under 12 wear a lifejacket at all times — tell us ages when you book so the right sizes are on board.

Is it safe to swim in the harbour?

Generally, yes — netted pools and sheltered coves are best. Never swim in a channel or near ferries.

What safety gear is on board?

Lifejackets in every size, a first aid kit, and the gear NSW Maritime requires. The boat is GPS-tracked.

What if someone falls in?

Engine to neutral, throw the lifejacket, come back slowly and pull them in at the trampoline. Call us straight away if anyone is hurt.

Where you can go

Where can we go?

Gladesville Bridge in the west to Bradleys Head and Point Piper in the east — partially smooth water only. Circular Quay, Woolloomooloo Bay and the major ferry terminals are out of bounds.

Can we go under the Harbour Bridge and past the Opera House?

Yes — both are inside the hire area, and so is Kirribilli House. Keep clear of the ferries.

Where are the toilets on the harbour?

Cockatoo Island, the Balmain wharves, Birkenhead Point and Sydney Fish Market, all marked on your map. Exact list TBC.

Can we stop for supplies?

Sydney Fish Market and Birkenhead Point both have wharves nearby. Or order Uber Eats to the wharf before you leave.

Can we anchor or moor?

In some places, yes — we show you where at the induction. Never on rocks or ramps, never in a channel. The exact spots are TBC.

How far is the Opera House from the wharf?

Inside the hire area — the icons route gets you there and back within three hours.
